Alone Together

Conceived by artist Annika Kahrs, Alone Together is a performance-installation that explores the idea of singing as a social act. A barbershop quartet sings the eponymous 1930s song, originally written by Arthur Schwartz, three times. Whilst they begin in close formation, with each repetition of the song, the singers walk further and further away from each other in the building, until they cannot hear one another any more. The song also becomes twice as slow with each repetition, making it difficult for them to stay together. I assisted Annika on this project, making the arrangement of the song. The first performance was shown at Schule Der Distanz No. 1, part of the Berliner Festspiele in November 2016.
